The Admissions Team from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has conducted an outreach and career guidance session for students of Seventh-day Adventist Senior High School (SEDASS) in Koforidua.
The engagement formed part of the university’s ongoing efforts to equip prospective applicants with accurate information on tertiary education opportunities and the admissions process.
Charles Asamoah-Boateng, Deputy Registrar at the KNUST Admissions Office, walked students through the university’s range of undergraduate programmes and emphasised the critical importance of academic performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
“Your WASSCE results, particularly in the core subjects, determine your eligibility for various programmes. Students must carefully match their grades with programme cut-off points when making selections,” he said.
He also advised students to align their programme choices with their academic strengths and long-term career goals.
Mr. Asamoah-Boateng warned against a common mistake in the application process such as selecting the same programme multiple times, noting that it significantly reduces the applicant’s overall chances of gaining admission.
Teachers and school administrators lauded the KNUST team for its practical advice and commitment to student advancement.
